Aug. 4, 2025, St. Paul – The Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) honored eight hospital and health system trustees from around the state for their successful completion of MHA’s trustee certification program. MHA proudly recognizes their dedication to effective health care governance and to the communities they serve.
“This certification reflects the commitment these trustees have made to advancing the mission of the hospitals and health systems they serve,” said MHA President and CEO Dr. Rahul Koranne. “This certification equips trustees with the tools they need to lead with confidence and navigate an evolving health care landscape.”
MHA’s trustee and advanced trustee certification program increases knowledge and awareness of health care issues, financial accountability and performance, public policy, quality and safety, and governance best practices. Trustees must complete 30 hours of coursework to fulfill the requirements for certification.
Newly certified trustees include:

- Ralph Hamann, Community Memorial Hospital
- David Lieser, CCM Health
- Thomas Sellnow, CentraCare – Long Prairie
Advanced certified trustees include:
- Ray Hatinen, Community Memorial Hospital
- David Kauphusman, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center
- Richard Peterson, Rainy Lake Medical Center
- Jerry Rapp, Alomere Health
